Capacity Building
Actionable and impactful capacity-building activities:
Empowering Farmers through Targeted Capacity Building:
RAID believes in equipping farmers with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. We offer a range of targeted capacity-building activities, grouped into key areas:
1. Enhanced Productivity and Resilience:
Training: We analyze individual/ group needs and market demands to tailor training programs on best practices for specific crops and target markets.
Soil Mastery: Farmers learn efficient soil management techniques like mulching, composting, and crop rotation to improve fertility and combat erosion.
Sustainable Pest Control: We train farmers on safe and effective organic pest control methods, including natural predators and homemade solutions.
2. Technological Innovation:
Tech Adoption Workshops: We introduce farmers to relevant agricultural technologies like drones, smart irrigation systems, and digital platforms for market access and information.
Hands-on Field Trials: Farmers gain practical experience by participating in on-site demonstrations of new technology and best practices.
3. Seed Security and Quality:
Community Seed Nurseries: We support the establishment of seed nurseries within groups, empowering them to produce and share high-yielding, locally adapted seed varieties.
Special Seed Farms: We partner with select groups to establish dedicated farms for propagating and multiplying superior seed varieties for wider distribution.
Beyond these activities, RAID:
Fosters peer learning: We encourage knowledge exchange and mutual support through farmer-to-farmer training sessions and online communities.
Leverages partnerships: We collaborate with research institutions, NGOs, and private sector experts to bring the latest knowledge and resources to farmers.
Tracks progress and impact: We monitor the effectiveness of our training programs and continuously adapt them to ensure maximum benefit for farmers.
By equipping farmers with the right skills and tools, RAID empowers them to boost their productivity, resilience, and profitability, paving the way for a thriving agricultural sector.
